Weekend Brunch or Lunch

Tips

The weekend beckons with romantic notions about what we should be doing - relaxing, eating and laughing in the company of family and friends. Whether it’s an earlier start with a Brunch or the long lazy lunch that sees you through to dinner time, here are some tips and ideas to consider…

  • Consider a buffet style approach so that you and your guests can mix, mingle and share.
  • The beauty of a Brunch / Lunch buffet style approach is that you can serve some great food that requires little or no cooking at all.
  • Build your menu around dishes that are quick and easy to prepare; an egg dish like a quiche or a frittata, dips and some yummy salads.
  • Consider an antipasto plate; remember that cured meats like prosciutto and smoked salmon require no cooking at all. To complete your antipasto platter, add a bowl of South Cape Marinated Fetta.
  • Keep it laid back and set the tone with soothing, up-tempo music.
  • Keep it fun and bright - mix and match your plates and your cloth napkins.
  • Don’t forget a plate of South Cape cheeses or for a quick and easy, yet impressive option make a Herb & semi-dried tomato Brie wheel. (refer to Cheesy Bits below).

Cheesy Bits

A herb & semi-dried tomato Brie wheel is perfect for a weekend brunch or lunch. Cut a South Cape Brie wheel through the centre and top the bottom half with ½ cup of roughly chopped fresh herb leaves and ¼ cup of roughly chopped semi-dried tomatoes. Add some freshly ground black pepper and put the remaining cheese half on top of the filling. Allow cheese to come to room temperature and serve with South Cape Classic Crispbreads or baguette slices.
